~ The Shadow Rangers ~

The Shadow Rangers is a fun manga-styled comic set in a mix of a fantasy/sci-fi world that is a "bridge" between other worlds/dimensions. It is the story of an elite team of people (The Shadow Rangers) who keep the balance in their world, so that chaos doesn't spread throughout the universe. The comic will be updated sporadically for now, but hopefully once a week (usually on Sunday Night).

Sunday, February 4th, 2002:
Wow, well it looks like I got page 6 done! YAY! I have a short contract job that is paying my bills right now, though doesn't leave much for anything else, but its something. ^_^ I also get to work from home with it, so I am thinking about trying to go back to a weekly schedule, posting the comic at the end of the day Sunday each week. It may turn into every other week if I get too swamped with my contract, but at least it will be updates! ^_^

Friday, December 7th, 2001:
As you may already have guessed, I haven't found a job yet, so I am focussing full time on trying to find one that will pay my bills before we loose the apartment, my car, and everything. I am sorry about the lapse, times are really tough right now, but they will get better and Shadow Rangers will go on again then. I have the 6th page started, and will get it up in my (oh so copious) spare time, but I can no longer make any solid promises on when until I find a job. Sorry to all who read the comic. :( Wish me luck! ^_^

Saturday, November 10th, 2001:
Here is the 5th page (finally)! Inked/penciled as you see it is how it will stay, its an experiment (though I may go back later and add some backgrounds, it seems pretty bare the way it is). Please let me know what you think of this direction, as it was much faster for me to create (only text/text bubble work to do on the computer). After I get my job (whenever that will be) and my life stabilizes some, I should be able to get at least two of those done a week (for right now, I will try to get one done a week). ^_^ The 4th page is inked now, but since I am coloring it, it will take a while to finish. If I want to color pages in the future, I will post the penciled/inked version first then the colored version later, as I have been. Also, I have added a F.A.Q. page (which really is more of a history of the comic and answer any questions I could think that people might have page).

Sunday, November 4th, 2001:
The 3rd page of the comic is now inked/greyscaled. I have the 4th page about 50% inked (I will be coloring it when I get it scanned in), and the 5th (new) page about 40% done. I am performing an experiment with the 5th page, both penciling and inking it so that I will have very little to do to it in the computer (will take a ton less time). Its going fairly well so far, though its a challenge to keep it from smudging. ;) Normally I dont worry too much about that with the pencil rough drafts, but since this is a more finished version I am being very careful (see the pencils for page 3 to see how badly I usually smudge my pencils heh). I am also working on a color image of the Shadow Rangers group, its coming along well, but taking a while (I take soooo long to color on the computer, I really need a tablet instead of my trackball heh). ^_^ Hope to have all the above done asap!
Btw, I really wanted to thank everyone who visits this site, you all give me the motivation I need to keep going at this, even during hard times like now. Thanks. ^_^

Friday, October 26th, 2001:
Hope you like the slight redesign of the site (more will come later as I have time). Sorry no new comic this week, its been a very long (and worrisome) week for me, both of my possible job opportunities fell through. :( This means that everything (but my job search) is going to slow down even further, as I scramble and try and find something before my unemployment is up in 2 weeks. :( As my life stabilizes, so will my creativity and my comic updates. Thanks for bearing with me, and very sorry for the inconvenience. ^_^;; It hurts me more than it hurts you, believe me. ;)
Got my first peice of Fanart!!! Thanks go to my friend Jenn, I love it, this really made my day. :)

Thursday, October 18th, 2001:
The fourth page is finally pencilled, and here it is. I kinda goofed up on the text size for this one, since I had a bit of dialog to do (I made the text smaller than usual to fit more in)... And it doesnt work to shrink it down like I usually do. *sigh* So you will have to deal with a larger comic today, its about 160K, sorry about that. I am working on inking the 3rd page still and will grayscale that page. This 4th page I will ink and color as soon as that is done. I will keep posting the pencils first (once I get caught up), and then the inked and colored/grayscaled versions unless I get requests not to. (And yes, I know the demon's head is off-center, he shifted it so his master would be more comfortable.) ^_^;; Oh yeah, and the little bit of text I wrote in in the last panel says "Doesn't look very evil does he?". Also, I am going to be revamping the site design sometime in the next few days, stay tuned. :)

Monday, October 15th, 2001:
The second page (second day) is now colored, like actually colored. ;) This took forever (about 30 hours), but I guess it was worth it, made me cement a lot of things in my mind about what the color of people skin's and outfits were. I hope you enjoy this, I am actually fairly proud of it, though I dont like how the jpeg compression messes up my nice clean colors. =/ Ah well. I have the 3rd page almost inked, so that will go into the computer soon (not sure whether I will color it in greyscale or color yet), and I have the pencils for the 4th page about half done. Sorry there hasn't been more progress, but I have been even more busy trying to find a job lately, as my unemployment time is running out.

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2001:
The first of the inked and greyscale colored comic pages is up, look at the first page (

) to see what I mean. I will most likely be doing all the comics this way, or possibly coloring them in the future. I will keep the original penciled comic pages up for posterity. No new comic this week, I will be concentrating on getting the inked versions up. Next week page 4 should be done and up. :)

Today's art is a tribute to the terrible events on Tuesday. I had to express the emotion I have been holding inside this week, and this was the most fitting way I could figure out to do so. Creating this has let me come to a sort of peace with what has happened. I can only hope that others can find some way to do the same.
There is a sixth figure in this drawing that has not shown up in the comic yet, but he was such an integral peice of the picture in my head that I had to leave him in. I hope you enjoy this, even though its quite rough.

Thursday, September 13, 2001
Todays comic, the second page, is now up, though still another rough draft. I will be spending this week working on inking page 1 and 2, and starting on page 3. Here we finally get a group shot of all five of the Shadow Rangers! ^_^ I know there are some weak spots in the drawing, but I promise it will get better as I get back into the habit of drawing daily. =)
Also, I just wanted to note the events that went on on Tuesday... I wanted to say my prayers are with everyone who is connected with the horrible events in some way, maybe friends, victims, family... The worst thing I can ever think of would be to have my loved one call me on a cell phone from a hijacked plane saying Goodbye. When I saw that footage Tuesday night on the news I finally just broke down and bawled, imagining myself in that poor mother's situation, how horrible it is that something like this could even be conceived of, much less carried through with. The loss of life is inconceivable, and there *must* be consequences. I burn a candle tonight for all the lives lost prematurely on that night.
